TLS Air Conditioning & Insulation has installed heating and cooling systems across Tampa Bay and Southwest Florida since 2015. Every installer is our own employee, never a subcontractor, trained to size your system correctly rather than default to a same-size swap.
Our seven offices in Tampa, St. Petersburg, Sarasota, Venice, Punta Gorda, North Port and Pinellas Park allow us to serve homeowners throughout Florida’s Gulf Coast. That local presence backs a 4.9-star rating across six review platforms, including 2,500+ five-star reviews on Google.
Every heat pump installation or replacement starts with a Manual J load calculation, not a guess, because a system sized wrong short-cycles in cooling mode and underperforms on Florida’s rare cold mornings. We match SEER2 and HSPF2 ratings to that load and mount every outdoor unit to hurricane code.
We hold Florida HVAC License CAC1822364 and Electrical License EC13016589, with technicians background-checked and trained year-round. Qualifying installs receive Duke Energy and FPL rebates, filed directly with the utility, plus a discount for active-duty military and veteran households.
Florida homes fall into two groups for heat pump installation: homes with ductwork already in place, and homes that don’t have it or can’t easily add it. We install the right type for each, rather than defaulting to whichever is easier to quote.
A central split heat pump is the standard choice for homes with existing ductwork. The outdoor condenser and indoor air handler share one refrigerant loop, cooling in summer and heating through Florida’s short winter without a furnace. We size every system with a Manual J calculation, rated to SEER2 and HSPF2.
A ductless mini-split fits additions, garage conversions, or older homes without ductwork. It’s still a heat pump, the same reversing valve runs it in both directions, but it delivers air directly to a room instead of through ducts, with its own thermostat per zone.
Whether your home needs a central split system or a ductless mini-split, we’ll size it right and give you a written price before any work begins. No obligation, no hidden fees.
Most heat pump installations in Tampa Bay and Southwest Florida run $4,500 to $12,000 or more. A mid-efficiency SEER2 16 system averages $6,500 to $8,500 before rebates. The exact number depends on four things:
Financing is available through Wisetack, from $500 to $25,000, with 0% APR options for qualifying homeowners and a roughly 60-second pre-qualification that uses a soft credit pull. Every quote is written and itemized before any work is scheduled.
Since 2015, TLS has installed and serviced heating and cooling equipment in more than 54,000 Florida homes, the kind of track record a newer HVAC company hasn’t had time to build.
We hold both a Florida HVAC license and a separate electrical license, so the panel and circuit work a heat pump needs stays with our own crew, never a subcontractor.
Our technicians train specifically on reversing valves and defrost controls, the two components an AC-only technician most often misdiagnoses.
Our 4.9-star rating holds steady across Google, Angi, Yelp, HomeAdvisor, Facebook, and the BBB, not just on the one platform a business picks to link.
Every installation starts with a written, itemized quote covering equipment, labor, and real rebate figures, with nothing added once the work begins.
Every outdoor unit is mounted to Florida Building Code wind standards as standard practice, not an upcharge added after the quote.
A technician visits your home to assess the space, ductwork, and electrical setup, then walks through heat pump options that fit your budget.
We calculate your home’s exact heating and cooling load with Manual J, so the system is sized to your home, not a same-size guess.
You get an itemized quote covering equipment, labor, and rebates before any work starts, and we pull the required permit on your behalf.
Our crew installs the outdoor and indoor units to Florida Building Code wind standards, running refrigerant lines and electrical connections in one visit.
We test refrigerant charge, airflow, and both heating and cooling modes, then walk you through thermostat settings and leave written documentation.
Membership covers both sides of what a heat pump does, cooling and heating, for $99 per year, billed annually.
Membership terms, eligible services, and equipment requirements may apply.
The federal Section 25C tax credit expired for any equipment placed in service after December 31, 2025, so a heat pump installed in 2026 does not qualify for it, regardless of efficiency rating. Utility rebates are a separate program and most Tampa Bay and Southwest Florida homeowners still qualify for one.
We confirm which rebate a home qualifies for during the in-home estimate, verify the equipment meets that program’s requirements, and handle the paperwork directly with the utility. A rebate that doesn’t actually apply never gets built into the written price just to make a number look better.
Every TLS installation includes a written breakdown of the manufacturer’s parts coverage and TLS’s own labor warranty, with exact terms depending on the brand, model, and system installed. We record the equipment’s model and serial numbers at installation and handle manufacturer warranty registration as part of the job, not as a step left for the homeowner afterward.
Florida law works in the homeowner’s favor here. Under Florida Statute §559.957, the full manufacturer’s warranty becomes effective on the installation date as long as the work is done by a contractor licensed under Chapter 489, and the manufacturer cannot shorten that warranty just because a registration card didn’t get mailed in.
Under Florida Statute §559.956, an active manufacturer warranty transfers automatically to a new homeowner if the property sells, at no transfer fee, though the original expiration date stays the same rather than resetting.

Across these six counties, our technicians reach more than 80 towns and communities, including Tampa, St. Petersburg, Wesley Chapel, Bradenton, Sarasota, and Punta Gorda, plus dozens of smaller communities in between.
Get a written price before any work begins, backed by Manual J sizing, Duke Energy and FPL rebates filed for you, and a crew that’s installed heat pumps in more than 54k Florida homes since 2015.
Most homes with an existing AC already have enough electrical capacity for a similar-size heat pump. We confirm this during the load calculation, and since TLS holds its own electrical license, any panel work stays in-house.
In cooling mode, a heat pump dehumidifies exactly like a standard AC. The real risk is oversizing, which cools fast without pulling moisture out, so Manual J sizing matters more in Florida than almost anywhere.
Often yes, if it’s sized for the whole structure, since heat behaves differently floor to floor in each mode. Some layouts perform better zoned or with a mini-split upstairs instead.
Yes, every jurisdiction we serve requires a permit for heat pump installation, though fees and process vary by county. We pull the permit and schedule the final inspection as part of the job.
Modern multi-stage heat pumps run quieter than the single-stage units they replace, often under 60 decibels at low stage, close to normal conversation volume.
Not necessarily. New equipment is shifting to R-454B under the EPA’s 2025 phasedown, so a heat pump installed today likely differs from an older R-410A system still in service.
Usually yes. Florida is one of the few states where gas furnaces never became standard, so one heat pump system typically replaces window units or an old furnace for both heating and cooling.
Book a week or more ahead during peak summer demand for the most flexibility. Our seven regional offices usually mean a shorter wait than a single-office contractor, especially in spring or fall.
